Garrett R. Farr Scholarship
The Garrett R. Farr Scholarship is in honor of Garrett Ronald Farr (Nov. 12, 1999 – Sept. 22, 2017), whose legacy inspires Project SAFE's mission.
These scholarships are for undergraduate and graduate students progressing their education for the improvements of mental health de-stigmatization and societal improvement.
The following page explains the application process. Keep in mind that the criteria is not primarily academics.
To: Corridor High School Seniors
Re: Garrett R. Farr Undergraduate Scholarship
The Garrett R. Farr Scholarship, provided through the Project SAFE Committee, is to be awarded to a current high school graduating senior (Class of 2026) in the Cedar River Corridor Area.
There will be $3,000 set aside in scholarship money. Applications are due March 31, 2026. The money when awarded goes directly to the school towards tuition or books. Winners need to provide us your school ID number and address and phone number of the school, so payment can be made.
Please submit:
- Completed application
- Grades 9–12 transcript (last semester may be omitted)
- List of community services, activities, personal interests, and employment
- Letter of recommendation
- Personal essay (500 words or less)
Essay prompt: Outline how you would serve our mission "Saving ONE LIFE at a TIME." In what way will you help destigmatize mental health and use your education and personal skills to help improve the mental wellness of your community?

Re: Garrett R. Farr Scholarship
The Garrett R. Farr Scholarship, provided through the Project SAFE Grants and Scholarships Committee, is to be awarded to Graduate Students in the Mental Health, Social Work, or other Human Services programs in the state of Iowa. There will be $2,000 set aside in scholarship money, with a maximum of $1,000 awarded to any one student.
The following explains the application process. Keep in mind that the criteria are not primarily academic. Applications are due August 14, 2026. The money, when awarded, goes directly to the school. Funding may be used for tuition or books. Winners need to provide us with their school ID number and the address/phone number of the school, so payment can be made.
Garrett R. Farr Life Achievement Scholarship
A scholarship will be provided to a student who plans to pursue a graduate degree.
Please submit:
- Completed Application (see form below, or answer in email body)
- Current Transcript
- List of community services, activities, personal interests, and employment (Curriculum Vita)
- Letter of recommendation
- Personal essay, see requirements below
